Analysis of greenhouse gas emissions from waste management in Nigeria and of the circular economy's impact on them, for the enhancement of the country's Nationally Determined Contribution for 2021 to 2025.

The brief
A Nationally Determined Contribution is a country's commitment under the Paris Agreement. When Nigeria enhanced its NDC for 2021 to 2025, the African Development Bank commissioned AGDF to analyse the waste sector: the greenhouse gas emissions from waste management, and how circular economy measures would change them.
What was delivered
- The main analysis, published as GHG Emissions from Waste Management in Nigeria: Analyzing Circular Economy Impacts.
- A support study on waste reduction and emissions reduction potentials in the Nigeria Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA).
Both were delivered to the African Development Bank between December 2020 and March 2021.
